With heavy winds moving through Sunday, it’s likely that some people might lose power at points over the next 24 hours.

The City of Rochester says the Gantt Community Center at 700 North Street will be open 24/7 until further notice for people who need shelter or help during extended power outages.

Other shelters/warming centers open:

  • Greece Public Library, 2 Vince Tofany Blvd. (temporary warming shelters)
  • Irondequoit Public Library, 1290 Titus Ave. (temporary warming shelters)

Monroe County says it is monitoring the storm and will open public shelters as necessary.

This article will be updated as/if more shelters are added.

Winds are expected to increase over the course of Sunday afternoon and remain heavy well into Monday morning.
