RG&E says power might be out for some customers until Saturday

Power for some RG&E customers could be off until Saturday, the company reports.

RG&E officials say they are working to fix 50 broken poles and 706 wires down.

In a release, RG&E says they expect to restore power for some customers by the end of the day. But, for other customers, it may take significantly longer. According to RG&E’s website, customers on streets in Rochester, Pittsford, Webster, Fairport have restoration times set for Saturday, Thursday evening, RG&E offered a chart of estimated restoration times. As of 6 p.m., more than 5,600 RG&E customers — which includes areas across the Finger Lakes Region — are without power. National Grid reports an additional 1,400 Monroe County customers are without power along with 600 in Orleans County. There are also nearly 400 customers without power in Genesee County.

National Grid expects to restore power by 10 p.m.

In a statement Thursday, the Town of Penfield said RG&E told local leaders it is bringing in additional crews.

Central Division (includes Monroe, Orleans counties): 90 percent of customers should have power restored by Saturday, 4/7 at 11:45 p.m.

Canandaigua Division (Cayuga, Ontario counties): 100 percent of customers should have power restored by Friday, 4/6 at 11:45 p.m.

Geneva Division (Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates): 90 percent of customers restored by Friday, 4/6 at 11:45 p.m.

Sodus Division: (Wayne, Cayuga counties): 90 percent of customers restored by Friday, 4/6 at 11:45 p.m.

Fillmore Division (Allegany, Genesee, Livingston, Wyoming): 100 percent of power restored to customers by Friday, 4/6 at 11:45 p.m.

Hornell Division (Allegany, Cattaraugus, Steuben, Wyoming): 100 percent of customers should have power restored by Friday, 4/6 at 11:45 p.m.
