NEWS 8’s Weather Team You Can Trust is certified as the Most Accurate in Rochester, NY for the second year in a row, and for 9 of the past 10 years. The certification is determined by WeatheRate, a 3rd party company that scientifically measures forecast accuracy.
Chief Meteorologist Stacey Pensgen leads NEWS 8’s Weather Team in their diligence to ensure Rochesterians know exactly what weather to expect when they walk out the door.
“Providing accurate and reliable forecasts for Rochester is the NEWS 8 Weather Team’s first priority,” said Pensgen. “WeatheRate has a very precise standard for measuring accuracy in forecasts, which is why I’m proud and humbled that our weather once again has the Certified Most Accurate WeatherTeam in Rochester.”
WeatheRate has been rating local forecasts for 10 years, and the most recent period of measurement for Rochester was March 1, 2018 to February 28, 2019. This year’s rating was the best ever by any Rochester TV station.
