Did you know there are over 400 active seniors who play softball in Rochester?
Every Tuesday and Thursday in the fall, morning and night, McAvoy Park is filled with players.
All the players are over 50 and some are 80 years young. Some of them even played minor league baseball.
Current skill is not important. They say it’s just fun to relive the glory days.
“People retire they use to play and an a lot of people tell me we quit in our 30s when we had kids and now all of a sudden here we are playing again we never thought we would,” said player David Eike.
“When you come out, put a glove on, get a bat in your hand throw a ball I think you feel like the first time you ever played ball ya know,” said player Scott Pitoniak.
“The grandchildren look at you and of course it’s something to idolize as a grandchild,” said player Michael Perrotta.
