After last weekend’s sizable loss to the Kentucky Mavericks, the RazorSharks came out sprinting tonight in their home opener against new division rival Providence. Rochester jumped out to an early lead and maintained that advantage throughout the entire contest.
The RazorSharks showed that they are a well-rounded team as they shot 41% from the field, grabbed 16 offensive rebounds, and recorded 16 assists. They also accumulated 7 blocks and an astonishing 27 forced turnovers. 2015 PBL Finals MVP Jerice Crouch recorded 17 points, shooting 6 of 13 from the field. Teammates Aaron Weaver and Kyle Randall also recorded 17 points respectively, propelling Rochester to a 104-91 victory. Five of the RazorSharks players recorded double digit points, including Mark St. Fort who complimented his 14 points and 9 rebounds.
The SkyChiefs struggled to maintain possession of the ball against a smothering RazorSharks’ press defense. During the closing minutes of the game, RazorSharks newest player 7’8” Bob Wegner checked in and recorded his first points from the line.
The game was highlighted by a special halftime performance by platinum recording artist Biz Markie, who performed some of his most well-known songs like “Just A Friend”. The RazorSharks will hit the road again for a matchup this Thursday, January 23rd at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston against the New England Shamrocks.
