Gillon banks a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give SU a 78-75 win over Duke

Another Instant Classic between Syracuse and Duke.  Another impossible shot by John Gillon. Another Top 10 opponent goes down inside the Dome. 

Gillon banked in a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Orange a thrilling 78-75 victory in front of 30,331 fans.

Gillon led all scorers with 26 points.  He also finished with six assists and zero turnovers.  Tyus Battle was next in line with 18 points thanks to a strong second half. 

Duke was led by Luke Kennard’s 23 points.

The Orange was able to pull it out despite losing the rebounding battle 36-28.  The Blue Devils had 16 offensive rebounds on the night.

With the win, Syracuse improves to 17-12 overall and 9-7 in ACC play.  The victory greatly improves SU’s chances of making the NCAA Tournament. 

Next up is a trip to #7 Louisville on Sunday before returning home the following weekend for the regular season home finale against Georgia Tech.
