Class A1 Semifinals @ Schroeder

There was a moment when it appeared Pittsford Mendon might have some trouble.
Eastridge trailed by only two late in the first half, but Jacob Shadders hit from half court at the buzzer and Mendon went to the locker ahead 40-35.
They came out a buzzsaw.
The Vikings opened the second half on a 20-2 run that needed less than four minutes and cruised to a 86-61 over Eastridge in the first Class A1 semifinal at Schroeder.
Eastridge was limited to just two field goals in the third quarter and Mendon outscored them 31-11. Michael Harrington had 13 points in the third quarter alone.
Dan Cook led all scorers with 30 points. Harrington finished with 25 while Connor Krapf added 12 and Shadders had 11.
Tony Arnold paced the Lancers with 21 points. The junior also topped 1,000 points for his career with a third quarter free throw.
Mendon remained perfect with the win and are now 22-0.
Eastridge ended the season at 12-9.
(2)Athena 53, (3)Irondequoit 45
Austin Brown broke a 44-all tie for Athena on a putback with just under three minutes to play and the Trojans made every play down the stretch against Irondequoit in the second Class A1 semifinal at Schroeder Wednesday night.
DeAndre Newsome nailed a corner three with exactly a minute to play that extended the Athena lead to four. The Trojans made four free throws late to close it out.
The game was close throughout. The only time either team led by more than six points was after the game’s final two points. The score was tied at the half and Athena led by one after three quarters.
Melvin Council topped all scorers with 16 points for the Trojans. Newsome finished with 15.
Keenan Robertson led Irondequoit with 13 points and Freddy June, Jr. had 12.
Both teams had only five different players score points.
Athena improved to 19-3 with their 12th win in the last 13 games.
Irondequoit finished their season at 14-7.
Mendon and Athena are now off to the Big House for the sectional championship. The Class A1 Final is scheduled for 7pm at the Blue Cross Arena Saturday.
Class A2 Semifinals @ Victor

The Knights built a double-digit lead in the second quarter and were able to maintain a comfortbale lead after that.
Sutherland and East will play in the Class A2 Final on Saturday, March 2nd at 5:00pm from Blue Cross Arena.

Class AA Semifinals @ Gates-Chili

BK is one win away from a second straight Section V title after cruising past the Inventors.
Kearney started slowly with 35 points in the first 20 minutes of the game, only to catch fire and score 37 points in the last 12 minutes of the game.
Saniaa Wilson and Toya Baker each finished with 20 points.
