The Rochester RazorSharks rolled past the New England Shamrocks at Blue Cross Arena tonight for a 110-92 home victory. This was the final matchup of the season for the two teams as the RazorSharks wrapped up the season series, winning three of four. Rochester came ready to play despite sitting PBL scoring leader, Corey Allmond, due to an ankle injury.

After allowing the Shamrocks to score the game’s first two points, the RazorSharks played dominantly on the defensive end, limiting New England’s scoring opportunities. By the end of the first half the RazorSharks forced 10 turn overs, and grabbed 17 defensive rebounds. Rochester’s high pressure defense proved to be too much for the Shamrocks in the first half as they shot only 39% from the field. Jerice Crouch was able to assert himself offensively with 10 points and 3 assists in the first half. Mark St. Fort, Troy Jackson and Nate Barfield each added 8 points to help push the RazorSharks to a 51-42 halftime lead.

The RazorSharks used their depth and physical conditioning in the second half to create a comfortable lead to defeat the Shamrocks. Their high pressure defense and fast paced offense gassed the Shamrocks as they outscored New England 34-23 in the third.  Rochester slowed down by the fourth as they were outscored by the Shamrocks 25-27, but held onto their large lead to finish off New England 110-92.

The lack of depth from the Shamrocks led to a dominating performance by the RazorSharks’ big men. Sidney Holmes led with 12 rebounds. Josh Chichester, Nate Barfield, and Mark St. Fort also contributed to great play in the post. Point guard Jerice Crouch finished the game with a team high 20 points, shooting 8-13 from the field. Melvin Council also put on a solid shooting performance as he finished the night with 18 points and 9 rebounds, shooting 8-14 from the field.

After another victory at Blue Cross Arena, the RazorSharks extended their home game winning streak to 32, and also reached their 15th straight win of the season. The Sharks are now 16-2 on the year and looking to finish off strong with one regular season game remaining. Rochester’s final game before playoffs begin will be Sunday, April 10th against Western New York rival, the Buffalo 716ers.  Tipoff is scheduled for 2:05pm at the Blue Cross Arena.
