The Tampa Bay Lightning announced Wednesday that Ryan Callahan had a second surgery on his injured right hip Tuesday.
The Rochester native originally had a procedure to repair a labral tear in June.
He returned to the ice in late October and played 18 games before Tampa sat him down again in early January.
That rehab apparently was not as successful as hoped and required another operation.
The Lightning say Callahan is now out indefinitely.
Callahan has only two goals and two assists this season, his 11th in the NHL.
He’ll turn 32 in March.
