Pittsford, Victor thrilled to open season in 3rd annual Teddi Bowl

For the third straight year, the Section V football season is kicking off for a cause.

Victor and Pittsford will meet Thursday at 7:00pm at St. John Fisher in the third annual Teddi Bowl to raise funds and awareness for the programs and services of Camp Good Days & Special Times. It is also the first game of the high school football season in Section V.

“It’s really great knowing you’re doing something positive for the community through sports and athletics,” said Victor left tackle C.J. Williams. “Pittsford is a great team. It should be a great competition.”

Both teams will be joined with kids from Camp Good Days who have been selected as honorary coaches and cheerleaders. These campers have been diagnosed with cancer and are unable to participate in football.

“It adds a different kind of emotion to our practices that we’re not just coming out here and playing just to have fun or to get the win,” said Pittsford quarterback Matt LaRocca. “We’re playing for these little kids that are fighting each and every day for their lives.”

The Teddi Bowl has raised over $17,000 combined from the first two games. Tickets for Thursday’s game are $5.

“We’re all really amped up to go out here and play the Teddi Bowl,” said Pittsford running back Adrian Brown. “To be the first game to open up Section V, we love it.”

Victor has featured in all three Teddi Bowls and are coming off wins over Aquinas in the previous two games. While Pittsford beat the Blue Devils 16-6 last season, Victor topped Pittsford 23-7 in the Class AA sectional final in 2016.

“There’s nothing better than opening against Pittsford,” said Victor linebacker Sutton Boland. “It should get you fired up. If it doesn’t, you shouldn’t be playing football.”
