Sectional champion, regional champion, state champion, and now, federation champion.

The Pittsford Mendon Vikings capped off a historic season with a 72-67 overtime win in against Staten Island Academy in the Class A Federation championship at Cool Insuring Arena.

Alana Fursman led Mendon with 17 points, and also scored the game-tying basket late in regulation to send the game into an extra session. The senior also took home tournament MVP honors.

Mendon is the first school from Section V in either Class A or AA to win the girls Federation tournament. Notre Dame of Batavia won the Class D title in 1999 and Penn Yan won in Class B in 1986.

The Federation Tournament is waged between the champions of NYSPHSAA, the PSAL of New York City, the CHSAA, and NYSAIA.
