Class AA Semifinals @ Blue Cross Arena

The Knights were able to hold off a heroic effort from one of Section V’s best guards to advance to a second consecutive Class AA Final.
Keith Slack finished the night with 46 points for Gates-Chili on 13-23 shooting and 9-16 from 3-point territory. Slack almost single-handedly won the game for the Spartans despite trailing by 17 points in the third quarter.
After three free throws from Slack put Gates-Chili in front 66-64 with 3:44 remaining, the Knights went on an 18-9 run to close the game.
Jermaine Taggart led McQuaid with 26 points on 11-17 shooting. Kobe Long was right behind him with 25 points that included 11 made free throws.
McQuaid won its first Section V title since 2003 last season. The Knights will have a chance to repeat on Saturday at 9pm from the Blue Cross Arena when they take on University Prep.

The Griffins continue to prove they are no fluke by taking down another Section V power.
U-Prep opened the postseason with a 2OT win over Bishop Kearney, then took out top-seed Hilton in the quarterfinals.
The Griffins never trailed on Tuesday night, building a lead up to 13 points in the third quarter. Na’Zea Folks led U-Prep with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Jakhi Lucas racked up 13 points and 10 rebounds of his own.
Fairport was able to cut the deficit to two points in the fourth quarter, but were unable to get over the hump. Ryan Lucey finished as Fairport’s leading scorer with 14 points and 13 rebounds.. Andre Starks was the Red Raiders only other scorer in double-figures with 11 points.
Class C1 Semifinals @ Bloomfield

Whitman and Finney will play in the C1 Final on Friday, March 1st at 9:00pm from Blue Cross Arena.
Class C2 Semifinals @ Sutherland

Justice Smith scored 28 points and broke the Lyons school record for points in a career as the Lions dispatched Perry.
Smith needed 20 points to break the record. He had them by halftime. Smith now has 1,910 points. The old record was held by his current head coach, Dean Schott.
Justice’s younger brother Justin also had 28 points for the Lions.
Lyons led by 22 at halftime and by 32 after three quarters and were never threatened in winning their 12th game of the last 13. The Lions are now 20-3.
Perry finished the season 13-10.
Travis Hill led Red Jacket with 25 points as the Indians held off Alexander.
Red Jacket controlled the second half, but could never pull away. The entire half was played between an eight and 15 point margin.
Chase Rizzo added 17 points for Red Jacket. Matt Record also scored 14.
Ryan Davis paced Alexander with 22 points. Chris McClinic scored 17.
Red Jacket won their 5th straight and improved to 17-5.
The loss snapped a six game winning streak for the Trojans. They finished the season 17-5.
Lyons and Red Jacket will play in the C2 Final on Friday, March 1st at 7:00pm from Blue Cross Arena.
