Nanna Koerstz Madsen entered Saturday tied for the lead at the Danielle Downey Credit Union Classic. When she finished her round, the field was lying her wake, after the 22-year old shot her second consecutive 5-under 67.
The Dane now leads by five strokes heading into Sunday’s final round.
After an up-and-down start to her afternoon, Koerstz Madsen caught fire, recording five birdies and no bogeys on her final 12 holes.
A winner twice on the Symetra Tour this year, a win at the Danielle Downey Classic would automatically guarantee promotion to the LPGA Tour next year under category 13 status.
Erynne Lee began the day tied with Koerstz Madsen, but recorde four bogeys to go along with four birdies to remain at -11.
The final round will be a morning split-tee start due to storms forecasted for the Rochester area. Play will begin at 7:30am. The leaders, Nanna Koerstz Madsen, Erynne Lee, and Sophia Popov will tee off at 9:31 from Hole 1.
