With a long list of accolades and trophies, Gavin Hall can make golf appear easy. The Porter Cup will forever be there to prove it’s anything but.
Hall entered Saturday in a 3-way tie for the lead at the prestigious amateur event. He ended the day with his fourth consecutive round under par; the only played in the field to accomplish that feat. Hall still didn’t win.
Brandon Wu brought Niagara Falls CC to it’s knees with a 6-under par 64, winning the tournament by three strokes at -11. Christopher Petefish (-8) also passed Hall, who finished third at -7.
Hall debuted at the Porter Cup seven years ago, finishing second as a 15-year old. He’d follow that with another second place finish, along with a third place finish and two eighth place finishes.
The University of Texas alum, now 22, plans on turning pro this fall before earning a hopeful spot on next year’s Web.com Tour.
