Council helps Sharks to romp

Melvin Council scored 19 points to lead the Razorsharks past Jamestown 103-65 Sunday on Orest Hrywnak day at the Blue Cross Arena.

Hyrwnak is the brother of Dr. Sev Hyrwnak, owner of the Razorsharks. Orest passed away after a heart attack early last summer.

Admission to the game was free, donated by the Blue Cross Arena. Fans were invited to come and share their Orest memories.

In Orest’s honor, and to celebrate his love for the rock band U2 (a band he had seen in concert more than 20 times), a RazorSharks jersey was retired with the number U2 under Orest’s name.

The Sharks blew the game open with a 36-14 second quarter, led 60-36 at halftime and buried another team early.

Corey Allmond had 16 points. Deverell Biggs added 12 and Rashard McGill chipped in ten to complete the double digit scorers for Rochester.

Jamestown did not make a three-pointer the entire game, going 0-16.

Rochester is 5-0 and now off until next weekend when the Sharks make visits to Ohio and Kentucky on February 10th and 11th.
