Bills Head coach Sean McDermott addressed the media before Tuesday’s training camp practice at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford.

McDermott says that Zay Jones won’t practice today and that free agent defensive end Trent Murphy is getting a rest day today.

As far as the quarterback competition, McDermott says the rotation will remain the same entering the second week of practice.

When asked about the QB rotation for next Thursday’s preseason opener, McDermott says, they do have a plan in place for the QB rotation that night and he will share that in due time.

The coach had high praise for first round draft pick, linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.  He said,”I feel like overall he’s ahead of the game, in terms of where he is maturity wise, his demeanor on the field, his demeanor off the field, but then there’s things that happen on the field that remind you that he is a rookie, so we got to keep that in mind.  That’s a credit to him and his parents and the way he was raised.”.

McDermott had praise for fellow rookie and third round draft pick Harrison Phillips.  He says the defensive tackle is a student of the game and that sometimes the vets get the best of him, but, sometimes he’s getting the best of them.  He went on to say that Phillips is still getting adjusted to the Bills attack and react defensive style.

McDermott will address the media again Wednesday morning at 8:15, you can watch it live right here on
