Irondequoit makes senior day a winner

Chris Butler pitched six innings, struck out five and drove in two with a double as Irondequoit held off Mendon on the Eagles’ Senior Day. 

Will Porter made his final regular season home game memorable with a fly out, throw ’em out double play he started from center field with the bases loaded in the fifth. The play ended the inning and preserved a 3-2 lead. 

Nick Searce drove in two with his own double in the sixth to give Irondequoit a 6-2 cushion they would need as Mendon rallied with two in the 7th. 

Jimmy Weaver and Jonny Fernandez both added two hits for the Eagles. 

Hudson Bockmier drove in three runs and Jared Petrichick had three hits for the Vikings. 

The regular season is now over for both teams. Mendon finished the year 14-6. Sectionals being all around Section Five on Monday.
