Jeenathan Williams poured in 28 points as UPrep pulled away from Kearney late to hand the Kings a 78-60 loss at Roberts Wesleyan College Wednesday night.
UPrep led 47-40 after the third, but Williams stuck a 3 to open the fourth quarter and the lead was double-digits nearly every second after that.
The Griffins ran off three consecutive fast break baskets–all off Kearney missed shots–to build a 16 point lead that concluded all the drama.
UPrep also made 11 of 12 free throws during an excruciatingly long finish to prevent any hope of a BK comeback.
Tamar Jackson added 12 points and Jakhi Lucas had ten for the Griffins, who improved to 12-2.
Naziah Carter was hampered with four fouls most of the second half. Kearney fell to 9-4.
