One of Rochester’s heroes came home Tuesday.
Brighton graduate, Ernie Clement, is off his freshman year at Virginia where he helped lead the Cavaliers to a baseball national championship. Clement was at Frontier Field Tuesday night to throw out the first pitch.
He was stunned by the support at home while he was playing in the world series. Clement says he got text messages from friends he hadn’t talked with in years.
So what was his favorite memory?
“That last pitch to win. That was unbelievable. I kinda just froze and didn’t really know what to do. I went over and gave my shortstop a big hug. It was just the best feeling in the world. I was lucky to get an opportunity to play and to contribute to a great team like that as a freshman,” said Clement.
