ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A man in serious condition after getting shot at the corner of Diringer Place and North Goodman Street late Tuesday night has died, according to the Rochester Police Department.
Officers said they responded to a residence in the area and found Derrick Ellis, 48, with a gunshot wound to his upper body. They add that he was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital where was being treated for life-threatening injuries.
According to RPD, Ellis succumbed to his injuries Thursday night.
Investigators said Ellis was standing on a porch while at a home on Diringer Place, when he was shot by an unknown suspect.
Ellis did not live on Diringer Place, according to RPD, but is a City of Rochester resident. The motive, as well as the circumstances surrounding this shooting remain under investigation, according to Rochester police.
