The Bills didn’t make a ton of moves in the free agency, but there was one signing that has everyone on the defense excited.
“I don’t know if you’ve seen Star, but Star is a big powerful man,” smiled Kyle Williams.
Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei signed this offseason after spending five years in Carolina.
He knows Sean McDermott’s scheme and Williams believes he’ll be a perfect fit on the Bills defensive line.
“He’s coming into a system that he’s always done. The one thing you can’t duplicate in this league is reps. He’s got them and I’ve got them,” added Williams.
Behind the defensive line, the linebackers will greatly benefit from Lotulelei’s addition.
“He’s a guy I would consider a star maker,” grinned Lorenzo Alexander. “Luke Kuechly benefited a lot from his presence on that line.”
In theory, Lotulelei will eat up double teams. The center and guard won’t be able to get to the next level and block linebackers.
“He’s also great at pushing the pocket. Now, guys like Jerry Hughes can now turn that corner and not have to worry about the quarterback stepping up,” said the Bills veteran linebacker.
The general consensus about their new teammate was summed up best by Kyle Williams, “I’m extremely excited for him to be here.”
