On September 13, some voters will head to the polls for primary elections.
Many local candidates are pushing for higher turnout at the primaries, but often voters feel uninformed about their choices.
For the past few weeks, News 8 has highlighted many of the primary elections coming up.
But with two weeks until the polls open, we want to make sure you know who is running.
For Senator Mike Nozzolio’s seat in the 54th Senate District, Republican voters can choose between Floyd Rayburn, Pam Helming, Brian Maktelow, Jon Ritter, or Sean Hanna.
In the 133rd Assembly District, Bill Nojay, who died just four days before the election, will remain on the ballot for the Republican primary with Honeoye Falls Mayor Rick Milne.
For State Assembly, Democratic incumbent Harry Bronson will face former News 8 anchor and reporter Rachel Barnhart in a primary, while Republicans Peter Vazquez and Bob Zinck will face off in a primary for the same seat.
And for Monroe County Court, Democrats Melissa Barrett and Matt Nafus are attempting to win their primary.
There are other primaries for smaller party lines, including the Conservative Party, Working Families Party, and Reform Party. There are also more local primaries for town races.
