All aboard the Monorail at Midtown Plaza! Check out this film from December 1968. That’s when the monorail made its debut at Rochester’s downtown mall. This “little train that could” carried kids around its elevated tracks, past the huge Christmas Tree.
We especially like the pictures of the kids tucked into the small cars. Do any of these young ones look familiar?
The monorail was a fixture at Midtown for decades. After the mall was torn down, the city placed them in storage. Today, you can find some of the cars on display at the New York Museum of Transportation in Rush.
