State Gaming Commission takes next step toward legalizing sports betting in NYS

State News

The New York State Gaming Commission is a step closer to allowing sports betting at NYS casinos.

On Monday, the Commission approved a 33-page document of rules and regulations governing sports betting.

Sports betting in New York will only move forward after the State Gaming Commission finalizes governing rules.

The approved draft document now awaits 60 days of public comment.

After that, the Commission will make adjustments and vote on the rules that regulate in-person sports wagers for all casinos, including stated-owned casinos and those located on Nation territory.

Steve Greenberg, the spokesperson for del Lago Resort & Casino issued the following statement:

“We have continued to let the Gaming Commission know of our customers’ desire for sports betting and our readiness to offer this gaming option for our customers as soon as regulations are put in place. We are happy that the regulations are finally moving forward. As soon as they are finalized, del Lago Resort & Casino will be ready to go. Our customers want this form of gaming and we’re excited to be able to offer it to them.”
