Rochester, N.Y. (WROC) – Saturday marks six years since Rochester Police Officer Anthony DiPonzio was seriously injured in the line of duty.

DiPonzio was shot in the head Jan, 31, 2009, while responding to a call on Dayton Street.

He’s has gone through many surgeries and intensive rehab.

DiPonzio returned to work at the Police Department in 2012.

The teen who shot DiPonzio — Tyquan Rivera, who was 14 at the time — was sentenced to 3 1/3 to 10 years in prison.
