The Rochester Contemporary Art Center will unveil two new exhibitions Friday, February 5 with an opening reception.
RoCo Executive Director and Curator Bleu Cease discussed the exhibitions Wednesday on News 8 at Noon.
The annual Makers & Mentors exhibition will celebrate the artwork and career of Sheldon Berlyn, a longtime University at Buffalo professor and resident of Penn Yan. In addition to Berlyn’s works, those of his students Russell Floersch, Juan Perdiguero, Kathleen Sherin, and Gerardo Tan.
RoCo will also debut One Cubic Foot: The Genesee River on Friday. This exhibition will showcase the work of photographer David Liittschwager. Sixty images captured in a one cubic foot space along the Genesee River last August will be displayed. Cease said the photographs illustrate the rich diversity found in a small space during the equivalent of 24 hours, in what was once one of North America’s most polluted rivers. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the Seneca Park Zoo Society.
Berlyn, Floersch, Perdiguero and Sherin will all particiate in an Artist Talk at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 6.
Liittschwager will participate in an Artist Talk at 7:00 p.m. on February 25.
Both exhibitions will be on display through March 13.
