Rochester conducts feasibility study on potential skatepark

News
Rochester, NY (WROC)-  Backers of a Rochester skatepark are hoping a feasibility study shows a skatepark can be built above a downtown parking garage.  The city is studying the idea of putting a skatepark above the Crossroads Garage at Charles Carroll Plaza along the Genesee River.  The park would be built as extensive repairs are done to the garage.  The ROC Skatepark Organization says a lot is riding on this study.

“We’re the only city among the largest 125 that doesn’t have a skate park, including Fairbanks, Alaska,” said President of Friends of Roc City Skatepark Jim Maddison.   “So, we’re past due. We’re about 20 years past due for a skatepark.”

The city put a skatepark in its long term capital budget but finding a location and funding has been challenging.
