Thousands without power due to strong wind gusts

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — Strong wind came overnight, uprooting trees and knocking out power for thousands in our region.

At its peak RG&E, NYSEG and National Grid reported more than 21,000 customers had lost power Friday morning in Monroe, Wayne, Ontario, Livingston, Cayuga, and Wyoming Counties.

Meanwhile, RG&E urges homes to be prepared in power outage situations and stock up on flashlights, batteries, water and safety equipment. They offer a full storm safety checklist on their website.
