Incumbent Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand will serve a third termas CBS News projects she has defeated Republican Chele Farley for the seat.
While in the position Gillibrand has presented legislation to develop new manufacturing jobs intended to boost local economies. She has also backed legislation to legalize marijuana.
Farley comes from a corporate background and has served as the New York State Republican Party’s New York City Finance Chair.
