The Erie County Board of Elections says that it currently looks like it would be “mathematically impossible or improbable” for candidate Nate McMurray to overtake the lead for the 27th Congressional District.
At a Tuesday afternoon press conference, Board of Elections officials said that following Tuesday’s absentee ballot counts at Erie County Board of Elections, Congressman Chris Collins leads by 1,384 votes district-wide.
Some counties in the 27th District still have some military ballots to count.
Rep. Chris Collins has already declared victory in his re-election bid, however Democratic challenger Nate McMurray previously said that the race is not over until all of the votes are counted. McMurray trailed Collins by about 3,000 votes following the election.
