Following an extended back-and-forth between the candidates, Governor Andrew Cuomo has agreed to a debate this week against Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro, the Republican challenger for governor.
Governor Cuomo’s campaign writes in a statement that the debate will take place Tuesday night at 7 p.m. News 8 will broadcast the event.
The agreement comes after Molinaro called out the governor for not setting a debate. In response, during a radio interview, the governor agreed to an impromptu radio debate with Molinaro.
After further negotiations, Gov. Cuomo agreed to a televised debate.
At this time, it does not appear that any third-party candidates, which include Libertarian Larry Sharpe, Green Party nominee Howie Hawkins and Independent Stephanie Miner, will be included.
