According to a release Monday, Duncan Hines Classic White Cake mix has been recalled due to a possible link to a salmonella outbreak. The CDC, FDA, and Conagra Brands are working together to investigate a positive finding of salmonella in a retail sample.

According to the report, it has not been concluded that the product is linked to the outbreak. The company has decided to recall classic white, classic butter golden, signature confetti, and classic yellow cake mixes that were made during the same time period to be cautious.

Five occurrences of illnesses due to salmonella are being researched. Several of the individuals reported consuming a cake mix at some point prior to becoming ill. Some may have also consumed the product raw.

Consumers who have purchased these items are advised not to consume them and to return them to the store where they were originally purchased.
