Information from five million credit and debit cards used at Saks Fifth Avenue, Saks Off Fifth, and Lord & Taylor were stolen in a massive credit breach.
Cybersecurity firm Gemini Advisory – which identified the issue – said the breach likely affected more than 130 Saks and Lord & Taylor locations in the U.S.
The firm said in a blog post that the majority of stolen credit and debit cards were from stores in New York and New Jersey.
Hudson’s Bay Company, which owns the retail stores, said there is no indication that online purchases were impacted and that it’s cooperating with law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
Gemini Advisory also said the hackers from the incident were behind previous breaches affecting Whole Foods, Chipotle, Omni Hotels and Resorts, and Trump Hotels.
