MCC student arrested for rape

Brighton, NY (WROC)-  An MCC student has been charged with sexual assault while keeping a woman captive in his dorm.  The attack allegedly happened last week.  Over 4 days, 19 year-old Kevin Leberth allegedly threatened to kill a woman if she tried to leave his dorm room in Pioneer Hall at Monroe Community College.  While Leberth kept the woman in his room, he allegedly raped her multiple times.
According to court paperwork, Leberth choked the woman and said if she left, he would kill her.  Leberth was in Brighton Town Court for his arraignment this afternoon.  He was given a $100,000 dollars cash bond..
MCC students were notified about the alleged sexual assault via email.  Students who live on campus were shocked when they heard the details of the case.

“For the most part, I feel safe on this campus until what happened recently,” said student Fannisha Price.  “I think Public Safety does a good job here.  Other than what just happened recently, I mean it does bother me because I’m a female on this campus and like I said it could have happened to any one of us.”

The victim is not an MCC student.  Leberth is due back in Brighton Town Court next Monday at noon for a preliminary hearing.
