FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) — Fairport fire crews are investigating the cause of a barn fire that happened on Tuesday night.

Crews say they were called to West Church Street around 7 p.m. for the report of a structure fire.

When crews arrived they were able to knock down the fire quickly but had to call extensive overhaul due to the age of the building.

There was no one in the barn at the time of the fire and there was no damage to the home in front of it.

The owner of Eterna Salon and Spa, Emily Horner, said she heard popping sounds while cutting a clients hair, “I sat my client Tim down in the chair to start his hair cut when we heard a popping sound and we both got up to see what was happening and we realized the barn next door was on fire and we ran next door to make sure everyone was out and okay and called 911.”
