The YMCA of Greater Rochester is teaming up with UR Medicine.
The two are forming a unique partnership designed to give people greater access to wellness programs and clinical services at 17 local YMCA locations.
“This is one that’s more comprehensive than any medical partnership in the country and we’re very excited to see this opportunity flourish for our entire Y system,” says George Romell, president of YMCA of Greater Rochester. “As we take this to a much higher level, I think we’ll see things that we’ve never seen before which is where medicine and community come together.”
Some of the services that will be available include programs to help manage chronic conditions like diabetes and arthritis, sports injury prevention clinics, and dental health screenings.
The agreement expands upon and formalizes a pilot program that was originally launched in 2014. This new agreement will extend through 2029.
