A World War II veteran was honored posthumously for his service, right here in Rochester.

Congresswoman Louise Slaughter presented the widow and daughter of Lieutenant George Bluhm with the eight service medals he earned, but never received as a World War II bomber pilot.

His wife, Betsy, tells us what this means to her family.

“I wish George could be here. He’s the one who deserves this,” she said. “I’m just glad my children will have a record of what he did.”

The medals Bluhm earned include a Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Purple Heart.
