Women who had gestational diabetes at risk for high blood pressure

Local News

A study was released that shows signs that women who develop gestational diabetes during pregnancy are at greater risk for high blood pressure later in life.

There is evidence that shows a healthy diet can reduce that risk by 20%.  Part of that diet includes eating more fruits, vegetables and whole grains, and less red meat and salt.

A new study shows that the latest vaccine against human papillomavirus (HPV) could decrease cervical cancers by as must as 73%.

Researchers at Yale say that’s a 10% improvement from the older vaccines.  They are now calling on the expanded use of the vaccination, and say it will reduce both the cancer rate and healthcare costs.

Based off a policy paper in the Annals of Internal Medicine, doctors are now warning that climate change will have devastating consequences for public health.

The paper points to higher rates of respiratory illnesses, diseases spread through insects, and malnutrition.
