The Winter Games in Rochester kicked off Friday night with open ceremonies.
During the games, Special Olympics New York will be launching all-new performance stations. The stations are designed to support athlete health and wellness.
The athletes train and compete all year long and are now vying for the gold. With nearly 1,000 athletes and just 6 events tomorrow the competitive spirits are high, but the CEO says the most important thing here is the sportsmanship.
“You’re gonna see competition. Fierce competition. but you’re also gonna see tremendous sportsmanship. You’re gonna see someone win a gold and you’re gonna see them talk to someone who didn’t and giving them a hug and supporting them” said Stacey Hengsterman.
