HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) - The wife of a man pulled from in Lake Erie was fishing before something went wrong, his wife tells WIVB.
Hamburg Police said the man was pulled out of Lake Erie in the area behind Hoaks Restaurant Wednesday night.
Police responded to a call of a man in a raft appearing to be in distress.
Police and Hamburg Water Rescue were dispatched. Robert Maccubin, 50, was recovered from the water and transported to Mercy Hospital.
He later died at the hospital.
According to Maccubin's wife, he had been fishing before the fatal incident.
"He died doing what he loved," she told News 4.
