In case you haven’t heard, we may get some snow this weekend. No, we will likely get some snow this weekend. The question is, how much?
There are still a lot of questions with this system, being 4 days away.
What we know: It will be very warm on Friday. Saturday will be a changeable day, with showers and sharply colder air from morning to overnight. Some snow will begin to mix in on Sunday. Initially, the ground will still be very warm from the near record temperatures on Friday/early Saturday. As the air continues to grow colder, snow will begin to stick on the grass on Sunday. Lake effect will begin to pick up on Sunday into Monday. The water temperature in Lake Ontario is at unusually warm levels this late in the year. That will aid in lake effect snow.
What we don’t know: how quickly will this system draw in the cold air? Will there be enough moisture left once the cold air moves in to accumulate snow? How long will the storm stay over us? There are some indications that this could stick around into Tuesday.
Bottom line: we have some accumulating snow in the forecast for Sunday and Monday. It will be turning MUCH colder with highs in the 30s by Sunday and Monday. And windy. Windy, cold and snowy for some.
