The summer of sizzle has simmered right into the month of September. Yesterday Rochester logged its twenty-sixth 90° day of the year. We haven’t had that many 90 degree days since Dwight D. Eisenhower was President of the United States in 1955!

Believe it or not, we may just reach that milestone yet again on Saturday. In addition to the heat we will also have the potential for some strong thunderstorms that will make their way through the area during the day. Those thunderstorms will deliver some decent drought denting dampness especially to parts of the Finger Lakes.

If you’re tired of the heat, there is some good news. Some of the coolest air we’ve seen all season long will make its way south out of Canada by the middle of next week thanks to a reconfiguration of the jet stream. Temperatures could easily never escape the 60’s by the middle of the next week, which would be a welcome and refreshing change of air mass that we can all appreciate.
