A man accused of murder is now facing additional charges after allegedly attacking two corrections officers.

Knowledge Couser, 21, has been an inmate at the Wayne County Jail since being charged with the murder of Julie Martin, 52, in June. He is one of four people accused of killing Martin, including her own daughter, as part of a plot to cash in on a life insurance policy. Police say courser was the ringleader.

According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Courser is also charged with harassment and obstructing governmental administration after an incident at the jail on September 25.

It is alleged that while being escorted, Couser did not comply with orders from corrections officers and struck a sergeant in the temple. He then took a swing at another officer, but missed and was eventually restrained.

The sergeant was treated for minor injuries by jail medical staff.

Couser was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in the Town of Lyons Court to answer to the charges at a later date.
