A Wayne County man is facing assault charges after an incident with a woman deputies say he was in a relationship with.
According to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Walter Clark, 38, of Wolcott pushed, and slammed the victim to the ground, then dragged her and punched her numerous times at a residence in Red Creek.
It was reported to 911 that a female could be heard screaming for help. Upon arrival of a Wayne County Sheriff Sergeant, Clark could be seen hovering over the female victim. Clark then ran from the scene.
The victim sustained fractures to her face and ribs, a collapsed lung and several lacerations that required stitches. She also had several abrasions and contusions. She was hospitalized and is currently undergoing treatment for her injuries.
Clark turned himself in to the police Monday, where he was arrested. He was brought in front of the local criminal court in the town of Wolcott. Clark was charged with Assault in the 2nd degree, a felony, and was taken to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Jail pending the posting of $15,000 cash bail or $30,000 bond.
Clark was served an order of protection and was given a future court date to answer to the charge.
