The Wayne County man who won $5 million off a lottery scratch-off ticket got his check on Thursday.
Lottery officials say Raymond Shove bought the ticket at the Fastrac in Ontario only after he wasn’t able to get coffee at another store. The decision to go to the gas station turned out to be life-changing.
“I brought my coffee and ticket down to the basement where I unwind and scratch my Lottery tickets,” explained Shove. “I’ve played this game for a while, but I was pretty shocked when I realized I won the jackpot. I was looking for the gag.”
Shove will get a one-time lump sum payment of $3,309,000. He says he plans to invest most of the money and use the rest to “take care of the family and plan for the future.”
