The Rochester Police Department has reported that a water main break has shut down part of Chestnut Street on Tuesday night.

Officers say they received a call at around 8:19 p.m. to assist the Water Bureau by shutting down Chestnut Street between Court Street and Broad Street while they investigate what appears to be an underground leak somewhere.

According to police, they’ll be setting up barricades soon so the officers can return to service, but it’s likely that this portion of Chestnut will be closed for a while until they determine what exactly is the problem.
