The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office and the Orleans County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death of a 50-year-old Irondequoit man.
Undersheriff Christopher Bourke said the Sheriff’s Office was asked to assist the Irondequoit Police Department in locating a man who had not returned to his residence after work yesterday. Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Sheriff’s 911 Public Safety Dispatchers, were able to use cell phone technology to trace the man’s cell phone to the area of a Super Walmart on State Route 31 in the Town of Albion. The man was found deceased on the roof of the Walmart. Investigations revealed he was a contractor who had climbed onto the roof about noon yesterday to inspect for leaks.
There is no evidence of foul play at this time.
The Orleans County Sheriff’s Office, the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office, along with Coroner Scott Schmidt will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
