Walk of Honor and memorial held in memory of fallen officers

Local News

Police remembrance week is happening all over the nation this week. Here, in Rochester, there was a special walk of honor and memorial held at the Locust Club on Wednesday.

Many of the men and women in blue took to the stand to recall their stories of serving the community, and remembering those that were lost in the line of duty.

Locus Club President Mike Mazzeo said that despite all the bad news about officers lately, there are positive stories that come out of events like this.

“We’ve seen a lot of criticism on law enforcement,” he said. “But, if you listen to some of the stories they tell during Police Week, they’re all about heroes, and heroes who sacrifice their life in order to protect us, all of us.”

National Police Week was instituted in 1962 by President Kennedy. Services are being held all over the nation.
