Village of Brockport not moving forward with nuisance legislation

Local News

The Village of Brockport will not move forward with a proposed public nuisance and party nuisance legislation.

According to minutes from the village board meeting on August 21, the village attorney advised the board to hold off pursuing the legislation because the constitutionality of similar laws in other communities in the state are being questioned.

The proposal, first introduced in June, involved code enforcement officials assigning points to homeowners and landlords for things like noise complaints.

Accumulating more than 12 points in six months could lead to fines or rejection of a certificate of occupancy.
