Family and friends of Lavon Williams gathered on Weaver Street this evening to celebrate his life.
They’re also asking for help in finding the person who took it. His mother Dionne Jennings talked about that Sunday evening.
“I just want answers” said Jennings.
Like others, Jennings tried to remember the good.
“He had his ups and downs but he was putting his life together. He was a good hearted person who just loved life” said Jennings.
Williams cousin, Allaysha Grady was struggling to accept what’s happened.
“Lavon was a nice loving person and we just want to know why somebody would do this to him” said Grady.
Reverend David Brown says the vigil is just the first of many steps in the grieving process.
“It helps console them, it helps with the pain because we know that losing a loved one is very painful” said Brown.
The next step is justice.
“Well what I want to know is if anyone knows who did this to my brother because we want justice, everybody” said Williams brother Jayshawn Jennings.
